In middle school, students begin to connect their strong elementary academics foundation to new and more challenging areas of academic through a Biblical Worldview using the Bob Jones Curriculum.

Middle School Literature Curriculum

For Middle School Reading, students will be taught using The Bob Jones Press Literature Program. This curriculum focuses on:

  • Develop vocabulary acquisition through context and domain-specific instruction.
  • Help students interact with literary texts by modeling reading strategies and literary skills.
  • Offer a broad range of reading opportunities using novel studies and engaging selections from classic and contemporary literature.
  • Guide students in using visual analysis to interpret and evaluate images and relate them to literary texts.
  • Develop cultural and historical literacy that will illuminate the study of literature and informational texts.
  • Lead students to exercise discernment and formulate biblical responses to issues raised in reading by asking real-world questions from a biblical worldview.
  • Provide opportunities for individual and collaborative communication by drawing on textual models and technology skills.

Middle School Writing and Grammar Curriculum

For Middle School English Language Arts, students will be taught using The Bob Jones Press Writing and Grammar Program. This curriculum focuses on:

  • To ensure mastery of English grammar and mechanics.
  • To develop mastery of study, reference, and research skills, effectively using print and digital sources.
  • To model the connection of mentor texts to grammar instruction and writing activities.
  • To give opportunities for students to use the writing process with genre-specific strategies to craft communication for real-world contexts.
  • To guide students to hone collaboration, listening, speaking, and viewing skills.
  • To expand technology and media literacy through written, oral, and visual communication.
  • To lead students to draft writing that is truthful, virtuous, and empathetic.

Middle School Vocabulary Curriculum

For Middle School Vocabulary, students will be taught using The Bob Jones Press Vocabulary Program. This curriculum focuses on inductive vocabulary strategies such as activating prior knowledge and using clues from word parts, etymology, and context.

Middle School Handwriting Curriculum

Sixth grade students will be taught using The Bob Jones Press Handwriting Program. This curriculum focuses on:

  • Cursive Fonts (2nd-6th Grade)
    • Continue to learn and reinforce natural, legible, and attractive handwriting. 
    • Perfecting their handwriting through supported practice
    • Practicing from memory, and creative writing. 
    • Introducing artistic writing with calligraphy.

Middle School Math Curriculum

For Middle School Math, students will be taught using The Bob Jones Press Math Program. This curriculum focuses on:

  • To ensure mastery of foundational mathematical concepts including number systems, operations, algebra, functions, geometry, probability, and statistics.
  • To support procedural fluency for college and career readiness through consistent, strategic practice and review.
  • To develop analytical thinking, reasoning skills, and perseverance in real-world problem solving through the creation and use of models.
  • To encourage the use of technology to enhance learning, to incorporate multiple representations of concepts, and to remove computational constraints.
  • To equip students to formulate a biblical view of mathematics.

Middle School Science Curriculum

For Middle School Science classes, students will be taught using The Bob Jones Press Secondary Science Program. This curriculum focuses on:

  • Extend scientific knowledge and laboratory skills.
  • Guide students in applying scientific knowledge and skills in ethical ways to solve real-world problems, using activities that include collaborative STEM experiences.
  • Enable students to create models that describe the natural world and use them to make predictions.
  • Equip students with the skills to interpret informational text and apply scientific knowledge in accordance with biblical teaching.

Middle School Social Studies Curriculum

For Middle School Social Studies classes, students will be taught using The Bob Jones Press Secondary Heritage Studies Program. This curriculum focuses on:

  • To improve social studies skills including reading, researching, analyzing primary sources, mapping, and creating timelines.
  • To develop an understanding of the interrelationship of various social studies disciplines.
  • To guide students to evaluate historical events, government and economic structures, and world cultures by developing biblical approaches to justice, power, freedom, individualism, equality, and other core values.
  • To equip students to create biblical solutions to real-world economic, environmental, political, and social problems.

For Middle School Bible classes, students will be taught using two Bob Jones Bible Curriculums.

 

Middle and High Bible Curriculum

The Bob Jones Middle and High Bible Curriculum focuses on:

  • Recognize the Bible as the ultimate authority for faith and practice.
  • Trace the Creation, Fall, Redemption storyline of Scripture.
  • Develop Bible study skills.
  • Develop a greater love for God that leads to worship.
  • Inculcate biblical values for internal character transformation for properly motivated obedience.
  • Defend biblical doctrine and positions and refute false teaching and philosophies.
  • Encourage appropriate cultural engagement and evangelism.
  • Facilitate informed discipleship.

Secondary Bible Truths

The Bob Jones Secondary Bible Truths curriculum focuses on:

  • Be exposed to the entire Scriptures.
